Each year around Halloween, the children are given a day to celebrate with costumes and games and snacks. Each costume is judged for originality, fun, and best in class. The games are organized much like carnival games where children can play for prizes. The games are setup by the upper grade students in each of their classrooms or in the school yard. The younger children are invited to visit the classrooms and the outdoors to play the games. Each class would have their own snacks and beverages.
The 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are taught by a volunteer teacher how to play basketball. After some practices, a tournament is scheduled amongst the various teams from these grades. The games are refereed by the volunteer teacher. The ultimate winning team receive trophies for their victory. Runner up teams also get trophies.
A teacher - student challenge game is later scheduled and is usually a cut-throat game of hard-played basketball.
